Liz and I finally managed to go out alone for the first time since we moved up to Eagan. It's tough finding a sitter, but the kids are getting older and they can spend some time home alone. We've both been wanting to try some good Sushi and for Valentine's day (actually the 13th to avoid crowds and lines) we decided to go out to Fuji Ya's in Minneapolis. I got the idea from an indirect recommendation from Scooter (thanks!). We took off with plenty of time but after a minor snafoo with the gps and road construction we got there right on time for our 6 o'oclock reservation. The food was excellent! We started with a Valentine's roll and a Dragon roll, both were great. The dragon roll could've done without the spicy mayo, but it was still very very good. We also had a Rainbow roll, that was a real treat. The roll was wrapped in in thick slices of raw fish that I never would have thought to try that way, but everything came together suberbly. There was a vibrant atmosphere and after about an hour, a healthy line started to form. The only downside is that it can get pretty pricey if you order the specialty menu items. It was a good night out, albeit short-lived since we had to go home to the kids right after.
Looking forward to our next date, maybe some dancing?
