Happy New Year!!

We spent xmas and the new year with my in-laws. It was mellow, but it was nice to be with family. We also visited my family on New Year's for a while. It was a full house, but we decided to spend the cross-over to 2010 at Lizzy's parents. I got pair of Oakley's from Liz and a nice watch from the in-law's. We got Keila a purse and Alex a combat play set. Both were very happy with their gifts. Alex's favorite gift was miniature halo action figures.

My late xmas gift, a Nexus One is on it's way and I can't wait to get it.

Liz got an Exlporer as her late gift. It was a good deal and it's a nice truck.

Hey that reminds me, how about a recap of the cars I had last decade??

In order - more or less

  • 96 Red Pontiac Grand Am - had major issues with that car - overheating was awful
  • 95 Black Dodge Neon - cruddy car, timing belt went out, heads got warped, uncle fixed it and we re-sold it for a decent profit (the only car I actually made money on when I sold it!)
  • 86 Gold Honda Accord - rust bucket that ran great, I put a lot of miles on it during college
  • 97 V8 AWD Black Ford Explorer - Super clean with 99k miles, always ran great, put 19's new paint job, clear lights all around, and a billet grille
  • 95 Gold Honda Accord - Less rust newer body style and a solid engine, I replaced the transmission on it, but I did break it so that's what I get
  • 03 Pearl While Suzuki XL7 the newest car we've had yet bought it with about 38k miles, really nice truck but we had to sell it due to my commute
  • 87 Gold Honda Accord - another rust bucket that ran well, with a couple of glitches
  • 98 Green Honda Accord - No rust, excellent condition, bought from a guy at work who was reluctant to "give" it away to a dealer when he got a new car. Got a great deal on it too.
  • 93 Green Toyota Camry Wagon - some rust, great shape, got it from a friend at work who bought it brand new, very nice ride
  • 03 Blue Honda Civic 5-speed - no rust, excellent condition, but major pet hair issues when we first bought it. Awesome car, still running strong
  • 03 Black Ford Explorer XLT - this one just made it, bought it on the 31st, got a great deal on it, reliability is tbd but it runs very smooth & I think my next vehicle is going to be a truck with a similarly quiet and refined ride.
Yeah, I like cars

  2. I got Oakley's from Jen right before RAGBRAI, and then managed to put a groove in them before I went on the bicycling trip. Felt like a tool.

So you still own all these cars?

  3. forgot I moderated the comments, got to take that off..

Oooh, yeah I think Liz would kick my butt if I did that. I still own the 03 explorer, 03 civic, and 98 accord. I forgot to list the 89 semi, I finally sold that thing. I got 1600 for it. Considering I bought it for 1400 and I would have had to rent a moving truck anyway I came out on top on that deal.

I was very glad to get rid of it.
