I went snowboarding today with Jeff and Mario, and we all had a blast. There were though, quite a few spills. Jeff was the first one to go down since he was also the first one to go down the hill. He warned me to try not to fall on my butt, but that's exactly what happened. I was wearing sunglasses and they flew off my face as I hit my ass on the ground then pounded the back of my head hard right into the snow. That was pretty bad, but it was also the worst fall I had. Mario's big debacle was just getting himself up the bunny hill, he kept falling on the way up. It took him like five tries before he made it up once, although he still fell a few times afterwards. I think Jeff may have had the hardest fall. He caught the full force of a fall right on his knees and he had to take five right on the course to recover. He hung in there though.
If Mario had a hard time hanging on to the rope, I almost died getting up with a hook type thing that pulls you up to the higher green level, the thing almost dragged me all the way up the hill on the first attempt. I also had a little bit of a problem getting on the ski lift, but I got on ok. Jeff on the other hand had a hard time getting off and splattered himself onto the floor as he slid off the seat.
Regardless, we all had an awesome time and we ended up learning enough to do some basic turns and braking. We all should go next time, I heard a couple of people say that skiing is easier to pick up so maybe the girls will try that. It's not like they can't snowboard, but there can be a lot of pain involved in learning.
Here are some pics:
We all spent quite a bit of time on our butts.
Hey, he's up!!
....and he's back down

Yes, that is fear in his eyes

Jeff shows us how to slow down, although that may have been entirely by accident

Ha! Jeff looks stiff. Man, now I realize it's really not as easy as it seems. Yet, it's not that hard either. It's a blast that's for sure. No matter how many times you fall, you can't help having fun.
