cafeteria where I work. Her manager was harrassing her about what
amounted to a couple of spots on the microwave. He then sat her down
and told her how she had missed way too much work (it sounded like one
sick day and two vacation days) He said she needed to come in even of
she wasn't feeling well because thats what he does. Dude, she works in
the cafeteria, she needs to stay home if she's sick. Anyway, it was
very petty.
Hearing that made me feel like I was really lucky. Most of the
cafeteria staff is Hispanic and first or second generation Americans
like me. There are only a very few developers where I work with that
same background. So seeing her get berated really annoyed me even
though I don't know the whole story.

I swear it sometimes seems like when you work in a crap job, your boss feels the need to show off his/her power now and then just to prove to himself he has some and isn't in a crap job himself.
ReplyDeleteSee this is what I'm talking about, is it nessasary to mention stuff like this infront of people. I hate when someone higher up then you tries to make an ass out of you in public. Couldn't he have called her in to his office or damn a more private spot to go over issues? Either way, his behavior was very inappropriate. She's an adult not a child. If you have to say something about days missed then say in an adult, educated manner. What a jerk.
